The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
महानरकसाम्राज्ये मत्तदुष्कृतवारणाः ।
आशाशरशलाकाढ्या दुर्जया हीन्द्रियारयः ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
mahānarakasāmrājye mattaduṣkṛtavāraṇāḥ |
āśāśaraśalākāḍhyā durjayā hīndriyārayaḥ || 1 ||

Vasishtha continued:—The vast domain of death, in the region of hell, is full of the furious elephants of our sins; and the ungovernable enemies of the senses with the arrows of desires.
