The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.11.48

जडाजडमुपादत्ते चित्तमायाति चिन्मये ।
वासनारूपिणी शक्तिः स्वस्थरूपा स्थितात्मनः ॥ ४८ ॥

jaḍājaḍamupādatte cittamāyāti cinmaye |
vāsanārūpiṇī śaktiḥ svastharūpā sthitātmanaḥ || 48 ||

Both the inert and active (matter and life), proceed from the same;and the mind proceeds from the intellect—chit of God. The various desires are evolved by the power of the mind, from their exact prototypes in the Supreme soul.
