The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.10.22

यत्खड्गमण्डलोद्द्योतैः श्यामं बिम्बं विवस्वतः ।
कल्पदग्धजगद्धूमपर्याकुलमिवावभौ ॥ २२ ॥

yatkhaḍgamaṇḍaloddyotaiḥ śyāmaṃ bimbaṃ vivasvataḥ |
kalpadagdhajagaddhūmaparyākulamivāvabhau || 22 ||

His sable sword flashing with sombre light, darkened the disk of the sun; as it were by the smoke of the final conflagration of the earth.
