The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

सहकारिकारणानामभावे यद्यवोदितम् ।
मूलकारणमेवाङ्ग तत्स्वभावस्थितिं गतम् ॥ ४ ॥

sahakārikāraṇānāmabhāve yadyavoditam |
mūlakāraṇamevāṅga tatsvabhāvasthitiṃ gatam || 4 ||

If it was possible for the seed to grow without the aid of its accompanying causes, then it is useless to believe in the primary cause, when it is possessed of such power in its own nature.
