The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.1.1

अथोत्पत्तिप्रकरणादनन्तरमिदं श्रृणु ।
स्थितिप्रकरणं राम ज्ञातं निर्वाणकारि यत् ॥ १ ॥

athotpattiprakaraṇādanantaramidaṃ śrṛṇu |
sthitiprakaraṇaṃ rāma jñātaṃ nirvāṇakāri yat || 1 ||

Vasishtha said:—Attend now Rama, to the subject of Existence, which follows that of Production: a knowledge of this, is productive of nirvana or utter annihilation of the self or soul.
