223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.119.7

ऊर्मिकात्वं मुधा भ्रान्तिर्मायैषा सत्स्वरूपिणी ।
रूपं तदेतदेवास्याः प्रेक्षिता यन्न दृश्यते ॥ ७ ॥

ūrmikātvaṃ mudhā bhrāntirmāyaiṣā satsvarūpiṇī |
rūpaṃ tadetadevāsyāḥ prekṣitā yanna dṛśyate || 7 ||

Do not fall into the error of taking the circularity of the ring, as an essential property of it; the form of a thing is only apparent and not prominent to the sight.
