The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.118.14

परप्रयुक्तेन चिरं प्रयत्नेनार्थभावनात् ।
पदार्थाभावनानाम्नी षष्ठी संजायते गतिः ॥ १४ ॥

paraprayuktena ciraṃ prayatnenārthabhāvanāt |
padārthābhāvanānāmnī ṣaṣṭhī saṃjāyate gatiḥ || 14 ||

Then comes the powers of cogitation into the abstract meanings of things, as the sixth step to the attainment of true knowledge. It is fostered either by one's own exertion, or guidance of others in search of truth.
