The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यथा गृहपतिर्गेहे विविधं हि विचेष्टते ।
न गृहं तु जडं राम तथा देहे हि जीवकः ॥ २३ ॥
yathā gṛhapatirgehe vividhaṃ hi viceṣṭate |
na gṛhaṃ tu jaḍaṃ rāma tathā dehe hi jīvakaḥ || 23 ||
As the master of the house does his many acts in it, and not the house itself; so the mind acts its several parts in the body, and not the body by itself.
