The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.115.11

चेतस्तु जीवतां यातं चिच्छक्तिपरिभूषितम् ।
विद्यात्संसारसंरम्भं कपिपोतकचञ्चलम् ॥ ११ ॥

cetastu jīvatāṃ yātaṃ cicchaktiparibhūṣitam |
vidyātsaṃsārasaṃrambhaṃ kapipotakacañcalam || 11 ||

This mind becomes the living principle (life), and is endued with the power of thinking also. It is as unstable as a boat on the current of world of affairs, and plays the part of a fickle monkey, amidst the busy castle of the world.
