The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

दृढवासनया बन्धो घनतामेति चेतसः ।
बलाद्वेतालसंकल्पः संध्याकाले यथा शिशोः ॥ १० ॥

dṛḍhavāsanayā bandho ghanatāmeti cetasaḥ |
balādvetālasaṃkalpaḥ saṃdhyākāle yathā śiśoḥ || 10 ||

The stiffness of our desires, tends to bind the mind fast in its worldly chains; as the advance of night serves to increase the fear of goblins in children.
