The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.112.1

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
यस्मिंस्तस्मिन्पदार्थे हि येन तेन यथा तथा ।
तीव्रसंवेगसंपन्नं मनः पश्यति वाञ्छितम् ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
yasmiṃstasminpadārthe hi yena tena yathā tathā |
tīvrasaṃvegasaṃpannaṃ manaḥ paśyati vāñchitam || 1 ||

Vasishtha continued:—Whatever be the nature of the object of any man's desire, his mind does not fail to run after it with great avidity in every place.
