The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.111.10

पौरुषेण प्रयत्नेन चित्तमाश्वेव जीयते ।
अचित्तेनाप्रयत्नेन पदं ब्रह्मणि दीयते ॥ १० ॥

pauruṣeṇa prayatnena cittamāśveva jīyate |
acittenāprayatnena padaṃ brahmaṇi dīyate || 10 ||

It is possible to govern the mind like a horse, by one's attention and exertion; and the mind being brought to its quietness, it is easy to enter into divine knowledge.
