The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

मनो मननसंमूढमूढवासनमाततम् ।
संकल्पाद्योनिमायाति सुखदुःखे भयाभये ॥ ५६ ॥

mano mananasaṃmūḍhamūḍhavāsanamātatam |
saṃkalpādyonimāyāti sukhaduḥkhe bhayābhaye || 56 ||

The mind is busy with its thoughts of long drawn wishes, which cause its repeated births and deaths, and their concomitants of hopes and fears, and pleasure and pain.
