The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

जाग्रच्चाभिमतं वस्तु नयत्यमृतमृष्टताम् ।
अनीहितं च विषतां नयत्यमृतमप्यलम् ॥ २९ ॥

jāgraccābhimataṃ vastu nayatyamṛtamṛṣṭatām |
anīhitaṃ ca viṣatāṃ nayatyamṛtamapyalam || 29 ||

The waking mind deems the objects of its desire, to be as sweet as honey, and whatever it does not like, to be as bitter as gall; although they may be sweet to taste.
