The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

न किंचिदृश्यते तत्र भूतं जरठजङ्गले ।
 अभिजातो गुणलवो यथा मूर्खशरीरके ॥ ३७ ॥

na kiṃcidṛśyate tatra bhūtaṃ jaraṭhajaṅgale |
 abhijāto guṇalavo yathā mūrkhaśarīrake || 37 ||

There was no animal of any kind to be seen in the desolate desert, as the good qualities of good breeding, are never to be found in the persons of the illiterate.
