The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.103.2

ह्रस्वं दीर्घं करोत्याशु दीर्घं नयति खर्वताम् ।
स्वतां नयत्यन्यदलं स्वं तथैवान्यतामपि ॥ २ ॥

hrasvaṃ dīrghaṃ karotyāśu dīrghaṃ nayati kharvatām |
svatāṃ nayatyanyadalaṃ svaṃ tathaivānyatāmapi || 2 ||

They reduce the great to lowness, and exalt the low also to greatness; they make strangers of their friends, as also friends to strangers.
