The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

मनो राम शरीरं हि जगतः सकलस्य च ।
आद्या शक्तिश्चिदध्यात्मा न नश्यति कदाचन ॥ १७ ॥

mano rāma śarīraṃ hi jagataḥ sakalasya ca |
ādyā śaktiścidadhyātmā na naśyati kadācana || 17 ||

If the mind which forms a part of all living bodies, is not affected by bodily pain; how is it possible that the primary power of intellect which resides in the soul, shall ever be subject to death?
