The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अबुद्धं यत्परं धाम तच्चित्तं जीव उच्यते ।
अपरिज्ञात एवाशु बन्धुरायात्यबन्धुताम् ॥ ३३ ॥

abuddhaṃ yatparaṃ dhāma taccittaṃ jīva ucyate |
aparijñāta evāśu bandhurāyātyabandhutām || 33 ||

The mind which is ignorant of its Supreme origin, is called the living soul; which from its ignorance of the Supreme soul, resembles a friend who has alienated himself from his true friend.
