The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

कष्टं पुनःपुनस्तुष्टः पुनः प्रहरति स्वयम् ।
एवंप्रायनिजाचारश्चिरमालोक्य सस्मयम् ॥ ३१ ॥

kaṣṭaṃ punaḥpunastuṣṭaḥ punaḥ praharati svayam |
evaṃprāyanijācāraściramālokya sasmayam || 31 ||

Now ailing and now regaling, and now torturing himself with his own hands; and in this way I saw him for sometime with horror and surprise in myself.
