223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.91.49

चित्तताम्रे शोधिते हि परमार्थसुवर्णताम् ।
गतेऽकृत्रिम आनन्दः किं देहोपलखण्डकैः ॥ ४९ ॥

cittatāmre śodhite hi paramārthasuvarṇatām |
gate'kṛtrima ānandaḥ kiṃ dehopalakhaṇḍakaiḥ || 49 ||

The mind being cleansed of its darkness like the mirror of its dirt, shows the golden hue of spiritual light, which is replete with real felicity, and by far more blissful than what this earthly clod of body can ever yield.
