The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.86.5

न बभूवात्मजस्तस्य मरुभूमौ तृणं यथा ।
न व्यराजत सा भार्या तस्य निष्फलपुष्पिता ॥ ५ ॥

na babhūvātmajastasya marubhūmau tṛṇaṃ yathā |
na vyarājata sā bhāryā tasya niṣphalapuṣpitā || 5 ||

But there was no issue born of this virtuous pair, as there grows no grass in a sterile soil; and the wife remained discontented at the unfruitfulness of her efflorescence or seed.
