The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

राक्षस्युवाच ।
राजंस्त्वमसि दुर्मन्त्री दुर्मन्त्री न नृपो भवेत् ।
सद्रूपस्य भवेन्मन्त्री राजा सन्मन्त्रिणो भवेत् ॥ ३८ ॥

rākṣasyuvāca |
rājaṃstvamasi durmantrī durmantrī na nṛpo bhavet |
sadrūpasya bhavenmantrī rājā sanmantriṇo bhavet || 38 ||

The rakshasi said:—Prince! thou hast a good minister, but a bad one unbecomes a prince; all good princes have wise counsellors, and they make the good prince.
