The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

राज्ञो रात्रिंदिवं धर्मो दुष्टभूतविनिग्रहः ।
स्वधर्मत्यागिनो ये तु ते विनाशानलेन्धनम् ॥ ३७ ॥

rājño rātriṃdivaṃ dharmo duṣṭabhūtavinigrahaḥ |
svadharmatyāgino ye tu te vināśānalendhanam || 37 ||

It is the duty of princes to punish the wicked, both by day and night; for such as trespass the bounds of their duty, must be made as fuel to the fire of destruction.
