The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.76.10

मनोमात्रमहं ह्यासं देहादिभ्रमभूषणम् ।
तच्छान्तं स्वावबोधेन देहादेहदृशौ कुतः ॥ १० ॥

manomātramahaṃ hyāsaṃ dehādibhramabhūṣaṇam |
tacchāntaṃ svāvabodhena dehādehadṛśau kutaḥ || 10 ||

I was only the mind before, to which the body is added as a base appendage. It vanishes upon the knowledge of self; hence its care and neglect are both alike.
