The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

मत्तया शक्तयास्वादरसाच्चलितमेतया ।
कालमालानमाश्रित्य करिण्येव विवल्गितम् ॥ २२ ॥

mattayā śaktayāsvādarasāccalitametayā |
kālamālānamāśritya kariṇyeva vivalgitam || 22 ||

But though she runs mad with her meat, and turns about giddy with her drink; yet she is curbed by fate, like an elephant in chains from running at random.
