The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.72.12

क्षुद्रेऽपि स्वजने भूतेऽप्येति वत्सलतां जनः ।
दीधित्यापि सखीवृत्तं सूच्यां शुचितया भृतम् ॥ १२ ॥

kṣudre'pi svajane bhūte'pyeti vatsalatāṃ janaḥ |
dīdhityāpi sakhīvṛttaṃ sūcyāṃ śucitayā bhṛtam || 12 ||

As men are kindly disposed towards the mean, that are favourites to them; so was the needle attached to the pencil of ray, that became its constant attendant.
