The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

स्थिताया अज्ञताम्भोधौ क्व ममाभ्युदयो भवेत् ।
अन्धस्योदेति प्राकाश्यं नखद्योतानुसेविनः ॥ २० ॥

sthitāyā ajñatāmbhodhau kva mamābhyudayo bhavet |
andhasyodeti prākāśyaṃ nakhadyotānusevinaḥ || 20 ||

I cannot expect to raise myself higher, while I am lying in the sea of ignorance; what blind man can perceive the glorious sun-light, who is guided by the flash of fireflies?
