The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
अथ भूधरशृङ्गाभा सा महाकृष्णराक्षसी ।
कज्जलाम्बुदलेखेव तानवं गन्तुमुद्यता ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
atha bhūdharaśṛṅgābhā sā mahākṛṣṇarākṣasī |
kajjalāmbudalekheva tānavaṃ gantumudyatā || 1 ||

Vasishtha continued:—Now this Suchi who had been as tall as a mountain-peak, and a Rakshasi of the blackest kind, resembling a thick and dark cloud of the rainy season; began gradually to fade away, and grow leaner and leaner day by day.
