Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.63.8

यथा यच्चेत्यते हि तथैव तन्न बाह्यतो नान्तरतश्चैतत्समुदेति हि ॥ ८ ॥

yathā yaccetyate hi tathaiva tanna bāhyato nāntarataścaitatsamudeti hi || 8 ||

The form of a thing is said to be so and so, from its appearance only and not in its reality. The snake is affirmed of a rope, but we have neither the outward perception nor inward thought of a snake in it. Hence all appearances are delusions of sense.
