The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.61.33

यथा जलान्त ऊर्म्याद्या गुप्तागुसाश्च शक्तयः ।
जाग्रत्स्वप्नसुषुप्ताद्यास्तथा जीवेऽन्तरास्थिताः ॥ ३३ ॥

yathā jalānta ūrmyādyā guptāgusāśca śaktayaḥ |
jāgratsvapnasuṣuptādyāstathā jīve'ntarāsthitāḥ || 33 ||

All force resides in some living principle, as the waking, sleeping and dreaming states appertain to the living soul; and as the undulation of waves subsists in the water (or) as the current of the stream lies hidden in it.
