The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

निर्जीवं पतितं भूमौ संशुष्कमिव पल्लवम् ।
काष्ठकुड्योपमो जातः शवस्तु हिमशीतलः ॥ ५ ॥

nirjīvaṃ patitaṃ bhūmau saṃśuṣkamiva pallavam |
kāṣṭhakuḍyopamo jātaḥ śavastu himaśītalaḥ || 5 ||

Seeing thy lifeless corpse lying as cold as frost on the ground, and turning as dry as a log of wood, or rather as a withered leaf on the floor;—
