The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.57.37

भ्रान्तिरेवमियं भाति रज्ज्वामिव भुजङ्गता ।
किं नष्टमस्यां नष्टायां जातायां किं प्रजायते ॥ ३७ ॥

bhrāntirevamiyaṃ bhāti rajjvāmiva bhujaṅgatā |
kiṃ naṣṭamasyāṃ naṣṭāyāṃ jātāyāṃ kiṃ prajāyate || 37 ||

The notion of the corporeal body is a mere fallacy, like that of the snake in a rope; hence nothing is lost by the loss of this body, nor is anything gained by its production and regeneration.
