The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.57.17

पुंसो हरिणकोऽस्मीति स्वप्ने यस्योदिता मतिः ।
स किमन्विष्यति मृगं स्वमृगत्वपरिक्षये ॥ १७ ॥

puṃso hariṇako'smīti svapne yasyoditā matiḥ |
sa kimanviṣyati mṛgaṃ svamṛgatvaparikṣaye || 17 ||

Whoso thinks himself to have become a stag in his dream, has no need of seeking another stag for comparing himself with it.
