The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.56.10

अपश्यत्पुरुषान्याम्यान्नीयमानं च तैर्वपुः ।
बन्धुपिण्डप्रदानेन शरीरं जातमात्मनः ॥ १० ॥

apaśyatpuruṣānyāmyānnīyamānaṃ ca tairvapuḥ |
bandhupiṇḍapradānena śarīraṃ jātamātmanaḥ || 10 ||

It saw the porters of death, carrying away the souls of the dead, that have resumed their grosser forms, by means of the mess offerings of their kinsmen to their manes.
