The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.55.26

स्ववासनानुसारेण प्रेता एतां व्यवस्थितिम् ।
मूर्च्छान्तेऽनुभवन्त्यन्तः क्रमेणैवाक्रमेण च ॥ २६ ॥

svavāsanānusāreṇa pretā etāṃ vyavasthitim |
mūrcchānte'nubhavantyantaḥ krameṇaivākrameṇa ca || 26 ||

Thus the dead, figure to themselves some one of these states of living bodies, according to their respective proclivity, after they recover from the collapse attending upon their death.
