The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

स्यान्मे इत्येव संविश्य गुल्मवत्तत्स्वभावजम् ।
वेत्ति चित्तविजृम्भोत्थं नान्यदत्रास्ति कारणम् ॥ ५८ ॥

syānme ityeva saṃviśya gulmavattatsvabhāvajam |
vetti cittavijṛmbhotthaṃ nānyadatrāsti kāraṇam || 58 ||

The primeval sin springs of itself as a plant in the conscious heart of man, and subjects him to his doomed miseries, which have no other intelligible cause.
