The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.54.21

असत्यमेव सत्याभं प्रतिभानमिदं स्थितम् ।
इति स्वभावसंपत्तिरिति भूतानुभूतयः ॥ २१ ॥

asatyameva satyābhaṃ pratibhānamidaṃ sthitam |
iti svabhāvasaṃpattiriti bhūtānubhūtayaḥ || 21 ||

The unreal appears as real, as the shadow seems to be the substance. Our notions of things are the properties of our nature.
