The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तस्मात्स्वसत्तासंत्यागः सतः कर्तुं न युज्यते ।
यदा चिदास्ते तेनेयं नियतिर्न विनश्यति ॥ १७ ॥

tasmātsvasattāsaṃtyāgaḥ sataḥ kartuṃ na yujyate |
yadā cidāste teneyaṃ niyatirna vinaśyati || 17 ||

Nothing therefore has the power to forsake its own nature, as long as the divine intellect continues to direct his eternal laws and decrees which are appointed to all.
