The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.49.14

भस्मनः स्तम्भसदृशास्तालोत्तालविलासिनः ।
दृश्यमानमहाकारा मुष्टिग्राह्या न किंचन ॥ १४ ॥

bhasmanaḥ stambhasadṛśāstālottālavilāsinaḥ |
dṛśyamānamahākārā muṣṭigrāhyā na kiṃcana || 14 ||

They were as stalwart in their figures as huge columns of smoke, and as dark in their complexion as the blackest pitch, and tangible by the hand.
