The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.48.57

धूमाम्बुदभराच्छन्ना बभूवुः सकला दिशः ।
गगने प्रोतपातालतिमिराकुलिता इव ॥ ५७ ॥

dhūmāmbudabharācchannā babhūvuḥ sakalā diśaḥ |
gagane protapātālatimirākulitā iva || 57 ||

They filled all the sides of air with clouds of smoke, which seemed to hide the face of heaven under the darkness of hell.
