The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अन्धकूपे निपतिता इवासन्सकलाः प्रजाः ।
कल्पान्त इव संशेमुर्व्यवहारा दिशं प्रतिं ॥ ४२ ॥

andhakūpe nipatitā ivāsansakalāḥ prajāḥ |
kalpānta iva saṃśemurvyavahārā diśaṃ pratiṃ || 42 ||

All beings seemed to be immersed in the sea or darkness, and to lose their energies as in the deep gloom of midnight.
