The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

उत्तस्थुर्यमयात्रायां कबन्धनटपङ्क्तयः ।
जगुरुच्चै रणोद्रेकं पिशाच्यो रणदारिकाः ॥ २६ ॥

uttasthuryamayātrāyāṃ kabandhanaṭapaṅktayaḥ |
jaguruccai raṇodrekaṃ piśācyo raṇadārikāḥ || 26 ||

Headless trunks moved about as players in the horrid solemnity of the god of death (Yama); and the furies fled about at the dint of war, like the raving lasses at Bacchanal revelries.
