The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अहो नु विषमं चेदं वर्तते वृत्तवर्जितम् ।
ध्रियन्ते राजनार्योऽपि वैरिवीरैरुदायुधैः ॥ ५३ ॥

aho nu viṣamaṃ cedaṃ vartate vṛttavarjitam |
dhriyante rājanāryo'pi vairivīrairudāyudhaiḥ || 53 ||

Alas! the day and want of manners! that the royal dames are carried away by these armed ruffians by force.
