Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.41.2

निमेषमिव संचिन्त्य स विस्मितमना नृपः ।
उत्तस्थौ शयनाच्छेषादिव चक्रगदाधरः ॥ २ ॥

nimeṣamiva saṃcintya sa vismitamanā nṛpaḥ |
uttasthau śayanāccheṣādiva cakragadādharaḥ || 2 ||

A pure and cooling fragrance spread about it, as if wafted by the breeze from the Mandara flowers; and lulled the prince to sleep, with every body lying in their camps.
