The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.40.56

याता यास्यन्ति यान्त्येता दृष्टयो नष्टरूपिणीः ।
या ब्रह्मण्युपबृंहाढ्यास्ताः के गणयितुं क्षमाः ॥ ५६ ॥

yātā yāsyanti yāntyetā dṛṣṭayo naṣṭarūpiṇīḥ |
yā brahmaṇyupabṛṃhāḍhyāstāḥ ke gaṇayituṃ kṣamāḥ || 56 ||

Thus no one can count the numbers of beings that have passed away, are passing and shall have to pass hereafter, nor such as are in existence and have to become extinct in the unfathomable eternity of Brahma.
