The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.40.36

अस्मदादिः प्रबुद्धात्मा किलावश्यं विमुच्यते ।
कथं भवन्तु नो मुक्ता विदेहाः पद्मजातयः ॥ ३६ ॥

asmadādiḥ prabuddhātmā kilāvaśyaṃ vimucyate |
kathaṃ bhavantu no muktā videhāḥ padmajātayaḥ || 36 ||

But human beings having both their spiritual and intellectual bodies entire at their death, do not lose their remembrance of the past, nor can they have their final liberation like Brahma, unless they obtain their disembodied state, which is possible to all in this life or hereafter, by the edification of their souls, through yoga meditation alone.
