The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.38.45

कल्पदग्धजगत्प्रख्यं मुनिपीतार्णवोपमम् ।
अतिवृष्टिहतं देशमिव प्रोज्झितमानवम् ॥ ४५ ॥

kalpadagdhajagatprakhyaṃ munipītārṇavopamam |
ativṛṣṭihataṃ deśamiva projjhitamānavam || 45 ||

It was as desolate as a country burnt down by a conflagration, and as the dry bed of the sea sucked up by the sage Agastya (the sun). It was as a district devastated by a sweeping flood.
