The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

वर्षाण्यष्टौ सुराष्ट्रेषु देवि गोत्वं कृतं मया ।
मोहाद्दुर्जनदुष्टाज्ञबालगोपाललीलया ॥ ४३ ॥

varṣāṇyaṣṭau surāṣṭreṣu devi gotvaṃ kṛtaṃ mayā |
mohāddurjanaduṣṭājñabālagopālalīlayā || 43 ||

I remember, O goddess! how I became a bullock at Surat, and was goaded by thoughtless cowherd boys, in their merry sport for full eight years.
