The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.27.27

संसारमण्डलानीह तानि पार्श्वे स्थितान्यपि ।
दूरं योजनकोटीनां कोटयस्तेष्विहान्तरम् ॥ २७ ॥

saṃsāramaṇḍalānīha tāni pārśve sthitānyapi |
dūraṃ yojanakoṭīnāṃ koṭayasteṣvihāntaram || 27 ||

These orbs of light in the heaven, though they appear to be placed so near us (both to our eyesight and in the mind), are yet situated millions of leagues apart from one another; and the departed souls are carried in them.
