The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.27.9

अद्वैतं यो न यातोऽसौ कथमद्वैतकर्मभिः ।
युज्यते तापसंस्थस्य च्छायाङ्गानुभवः कुतः ॥ ९ ॥

advaitaṃ yo na yāto'sau kathamadvaitakarmabhiḥ |
yujyate tāpasaṃsthasya cchāyāṅgānubhavaḥ kutaḥ || 9 ||

He who has not known the unity, is not entitled to the acts and benefits of his faith in the true god; as no one sitting in the sun, can enjoy the coolness of shade.
